...You own a “Marius genser”
This knitted jumper is a jumper most
Norwegians have. When you wear this particular sweater, you feel Norwegian, and
I guess that`s why people wear it, because it`s actually itchy and it makes you
look fat.
It comes various colours |
...You find yourself
speaking halfway Swedish with Swedes.
This “language” is called “Svorsk”. Norwegians often travel to Sweden to
buy cheap alcohol and meat, since these products are very expensive in Norway.
...You have been to Sweden
for a one-day trip. Like stated in the previous fact, we Norwegians travel to Sweden to
shop. Not all Norwegians do this, but the ones who are cost conscious and live
near the border tend to do this at least twice a year.
...You don`t question the habit of always making
a “matpakke”. The “matpakke” is a sort of lunch packet –
sandwiches wrapped in a special type of paper
A typical "matpakke" consists of bread, a slice of cheese and mabye a fruit. |
Since skiing is an important activity here in Norway, we obviously need snow to practice our favorite winter activity. And less snow means less skiing.
…you have bad conscience if
you’re not outside when it’s sunny Sun and warm weather is a rare thing in Norway and when it’s finally there,
people want to get the most out of it.
…you can see the mountains
or the ocean, no matter where you are. Norway is a country filled with beautiful nature, and in fact over 30%
of the Norwegian main land is made up of mountains.
