The Norwegian national costume

You might never heard about the Norwegian national costume or seen it, but almost every Nowegian have, and many have their own.

The Norwegian national costume is a very special and unique tradition. In Norway it is called bunad. Both men and women can where bunad. Back in history it was used as an everyday outfit, but now we only use it for special days like 17. May (our national day), confirmations and Christmas Eve.

As you see in the picture is there a lot of details and colors. What do you think of these?

There are many diffrent bunads and your personal bunads look depends on where you come from. It does not have to be a bunad from where you live now, it can be a bunad from a place your ancesters came from. I think very pretty and important for our culture. the bunad has often golden and silver details and it is very stricht about how you sew it.

Do you have a national costume where you come from? How does it look?
