Lapps

Lapps is indigenous people. Indigenous people are the people that lived in a area and then the area has been colonized. They traditionally lived in the northern part of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Previously it was common to divide the Lapps in to four groups, depending on their way of living and settlement.
It exist different types of sami language. There are ten dialects that are very different form each other. The different is like Norwegian and Icelandic, so they can barely understand each other.

 

Religion

The Lapps religion was closely connected to the nature.  They believed that the nature had souls. Noaidi had a central role in the old religion. He connected the humans and the gods, by using a rituell drum called ‘runebomme’. A ‘runebomme’ is a drum, it could foretell how the hunts would turn out, and the peoples wellbeing.

Sustenance

Traditional they lived by the nature, mostly of reindeer, fishing and berries.

They lived whit the nature and what the nature gave theme, mostly depending on the reindeers. They have been a nomadic people, and moved after their reindeers.
