The most famous season in Norway

Between October and December falls the first snow.  The beautiful pearly white snow. People run to the stores to buy the newest ski. Everyone loves the winter snow and you can see plenty of children sliding, skiing and falling down the slopes.

The winter is so fantastic when all the pine trees is coverd whith heavy, white snow. Newly prepared ski tracks and the sky is blue. It actually feels like paradise!

Most of the Norwegian population has a cabin up in the mountain. An old traditional cabin has no electricity and you have to burn in the fire and use kerosene heaters if you don`t want to freeze. For many norwegians, included me, is it a tradition to travel up there and have a great time.

(Snow kiting)
What`s normal to do on a cabin?
 You can do:

-        Downhill skiing
-        Snowboard
-        Sliding
-        Cross-country skiing
-        Obtuse skiing
-        Kiting on the snow
-        Build huge snowmen
-        Snowball fights
-        Dig huge snow caves
·       And a lot more

For me is it a tradition to eat a big norwegian meal after an active and long day outside. In the evening, the family is gathered around a table with a bowl of candy to play games. “vri- åtter” a version of “crazy eights” is a popular Norwegian card game. Almost everybody knows it, the rules are easy.

  1. That is amazing that a lot of people own cabins. In the US, not very many people like to ski or own a cabin. Where I live, you would have to go out of state to do those activities.
